Are you a fan of Marvel movies and Greek mythology? If so, you might be interested in this 3D printed prop inspired by the thunderbolt of Zeus that appears in the movie Thor: Love and Thunder. In this post, I’ll show you how I designed, printed, and assembled this awesome movie prop.
Zeus Thunderbolt Movie Prop Design
This is my first movie prop and I’m very happy with the result. I wanted to create something that looked realistic and impressive, but also fit on my standard 3D printer. I used SketchUp to design the full piece and then cut it into four parts that can be easily printed on an Ender 3.
The final prop measures approximately 90 cm when assembled, which is not the exact movie size but it’s close enough for me. You can download the STL files from Cults3D and Creality Cloud.
Zeus Thunderbolt Movie Prop 3D Printing
Printing this model is not complicated if you have some experience with 3D printing. I would say that a beginner level is enough to do it without problems.
It is divided into four parts so that it can fit on an Ender 3 Pro and to avoid using a lot of supports. The orientation of the parts is ideal for efficient printing. You only need to use some small supports in the middle parts to avoid warping the bottom corners of the hexagon which are at an angle of 47.1 degrees. You can try doing it without supports if you trust your printer settings.
These were my general printing settings using Cura Slicer:
- Printer: Ender 3
- Rafts: No
- Supports: Yes (Center pieces)
- Resolution: 0.2 mm
- Infill: 20%
- Filament: Silk Gold PLA
There are different files in this prop:
- Full model (for a large printer or reference)
- 4 Parts
- 2 Pegs* [Normal & Tight] *You need to print side pegs twice
Zeus Thunderbolt Movie Prop Assembly
After printing the parts, you need to put them together. I glued the center pieces with the sides using the pegs for better alignment. Then you can glue the center pieces together or leave them without glue to be able to open the thunderbolt like in the movie.

Zeus Thunderbolt Movie Prop Review
I’m really happy with how this prop turned out. It looks amazing and feels sturdy. It’s a great addition to my collection of Marvel props and a fun way to show off my 3D printing skills.
